Upgrade to iphone?

I have no idea why AT&T have such rules to prevent their customer from spending more money. I want to upgrade my current phone to an iphone, but I found myself ineligible to buy it at a regular price, but have to pay 200 dollars more for the 8G or 16G iphone. What I can get at 199 and 299 is the REFURB ones. I will not be eligible until May 2010.
WTF!
Alright, I’ll wait until July this year to see what will happen. Hope I can buy the new released iphone.
